Ethan Roseberg
1. What is your role at Laval Rocket?
My official title with the Laval Rocket is an inside sales representative. My job entails two main responsibilities. Firstly, selling premium experiences (suites and Zone St-Hubert), season tickets, and different packages of games to various clients. Secondly, managing a client base of over 300 accounts throughout the 2018-2019 season.
2) How did you land this job?
After graduating university, I was looking for a full-time career in the sports industry. I went on multiple professional hockey teams websites and started looking for job openings. As simple as it sounds, I found the Laval Rocket job posting on the Internet and I applied. The rest is history after that.
3) Tell us a little bit about yourself. Education, background, etc.
In terms of my background, I graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario with a bachelor of Commerce. I have worked in the sales industry for multiple years while in University including a summer internship with a company called MindShare.
My passion in life has always been hockey. I grew up playing double letter hockey in Montreal and I’ve always wanted a career in the sports industry. I am currently coaching the West Island Royals in Bantam BB with my brother.
4) What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is the fact that I’m around something that I truly love every day. Waking up and going to the rink for work sounds like a dream to me. Also, I’m selling something that I believe in. Being employed by the Montreal Canadiens, the team that I grew up cheering for almost sounds too good to be true.
5) Do you have any career advice towards students who want to enter the industry?
The best career advice that I could give anyone looking to enter into the sports industry would be to set your goals high. When applying for a job, think about your long-term goals and how you want to get there. Make connections at various networking events and stay in touch with those connections.
6) What skills do you believe makes the most difference in your field of work?
In the sports industry, work ethic is the most important skill. Some weeks will require 80 hours of work. It’s your work ethic that will lead to promotions and different opportunities in the field. Also, interpersonal skills are extremely important in the sports industry. There is constant interaction with colleagues, clients in your day-to-day responsibilities. Therefore, your interpersonal skills will be tested daily on the job.

Yes, any member of the MSMC can personally reach out to me if they have any questions or would like career advice.
